Mavericks vs Jazz Pick: Friday, January 29th: The Mavericks come into Friday night’s game riding a three-game losing streak, dropping their last game to the Jazz 116-104 on Wednesday night. The Jazz and Mavs are back at it again on Friday, as the Jazz hope to be the first team to make it to 15 wins on Friday night.
Utah played inspired basketball with Donovan Mitchell out of the lineup due to a concussion, while Derrick Favors also missed the game with a back injury, though he is listed as questionable to go tonight. Rudy Gobert put up 29 points and 20 boards, while ‘Slo-Mo’ Joe Ingles went for 21 of his, while Jordan Clarkson came off the bench and scored 31. Luka Doncic did manage to put up 30 points, but the Mavs simply had no answer to Gobert on the inside. Utah was up 69-48 at the half. It doesn’t help the Mavs that Kristaps Porzingis has been getting torched as of late, going for a -24 on Wednesday night. At this point, Dallas has no answers for their poor performance. Dwight Powell put up a big fat zero, as far as points go in his 13 minutes played on Wednesday night, it was his first game since January 9th. Willie Cauley-Stein currently can not be trusted, and played just three minutes, while Boban Marjanovic played for just two. Dallas has not faired well when coming off of a loss this season, going 4-5 ATS when trying to avoid a losing streak.
