Kings vs Ducks Pick: Wed, Mar. 10th

Kings vs Ducks Pick – Wednesday, March 10th: The Kings played atrocious in their 6-5 overtime loss here on Monday. You can’t allow six goals to a team that averages 2.31 on the season. Cal Peterson looked bad. Jonathan Quick is day-to-day, so it seems like it will be Cal Peterson between the pipes again tonight. With Johnny Quick out, Cal Peterson is backed up by Troy Grosenick, an undrafted 31-year-old journeyman who’s played two games in the NHL back in 2014-15 for the Sharks. Honestly, I would love it if they go with Troy. NHLers love going all out for a career minor league, getting a chance at the big time. Grosenick has had back-to-back very good seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals. Calvin Peterson is a 5th round draft pick anyway, and he’s allowed 13 goals in his last three games, all overtime losses. Give Grosenick a chance. But will let Todd McLellan make that decision. But I’ll tell you what I need McLellan to do, get this King team fired up. The Kings have scored power-play goals in 5 straight games. Kopitar has a point in five straight games, with two goals and seven assists. Play for each other, battle out there, and win this game.

The Ducks played well to get the win on Monday night. Trevor Zegras, the Bedford, New York product, and 9th overall pick in 2019 out of Boston University, has boosted this team. He assisted on the overtime winner scored by Adam Henrique. Henrique needs to get going. The Windsor Spitfire alum scored 26 goals last season and has just six goals and 10 points on the season. Rickard Rakell had two goals and an assist, becoming the fourth Anaheim player in 10 years to have three or more points in consecutive games. He joined Saku Koivu (2012), Ondrej Kase (2018), and Troy Terry (2019) as Anaheim players with three or more points in consecutive games over the past ten years. Where’s Getzlaf on that list? What a shit franchise. Speaking of Troy Terry (upper body) and Anaheim defenseman Josh Manson (lower body) were injured during the game and did not return. They are already missing defensemen Hampus Lindholm to an already weak defensive corp. I expect the Ducks to lose to the better team in the kings. I’m on the kings -1, which is dangerous because the Ducks have had 19 of their 26 games (73.1%) come down to a single goal, but this was only their sixth win in those games (6-7-6). The victory over the Kings was Anaheim’s eighth straight one-goal game, which tied a team record.
